A brief history :
The kitchens of the château were famous for the majestic dinners organised by François Vatel, steward of the Prince of Condé.
In 1671, he organised three days and three nights of festivities in honour of King Louis XIV. Dishonoured when the morning's catch was delivered late, he killed himself on the second day. This tragic story is recounted by the Marquise de Sévigné in a letter to her daughter.
